This notice covers dcdandsons.com and theBid or No Bid newsletter. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

DCD & Sons LTD (“we”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15240422), based in Portsmouth. We are the data controller for the personal data described here, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZB770685. Contact us about anything in this notice at support@dcdandsons.com.

What we collect, and why

If you subscribe to Bid or No Bid

We collect your email address, and the date you subscribed. We use it for one thing: sending you the weekly issue. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone else for their own marketing.

Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in the footer of every issue, or by emailing us. Withdrawing is immediate and costs you nothing.

We keep your address until you unsubscribe. If the newsletter stops being published, we delete the list.

If you use the contact form or email us

We collect your name, email address, company name if you give one, and whatever you write in the message. We use it to answer you and, if we end up working together, to carry out that work. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and performance of a contract if you become a client.

We keep enquiry correspondence for up to two years, and client records for seven years after the engagement ends because tax and professional record-keeping requires it.

If you create an account

We collect your name, email address, company, the sectors you tell us you work in, and the notices you save. We use them to run your account, decide what to cover, and later to filter the archive for you. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract— providing the account you asked for.

Your password is stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We never see it, and neither does anyone else.

We keep the account while you use it. Ask us to close it and we delete it and everything attached to it within a month, usually the same day.

If you just read the site

We use cookieless analytics that count visits and pages in aggregate and do not identify you or follow you across other sites. If you have allowed Google Analytics cookies, we also collect the usage data described in our cookie notice. You can change that choice at any time on that page.

Who else touches your data

We keep the number of third parties deliberately small. Each of these processes data on our instructions only:

  • Resend — stores the newsletter list and delivers our email.
  • Supabase — holds accounts, profiles and saved notices, and handles sign-in. Our database is hosted in London.
  • Vercel — hosts the site, and provides the cookieless analytics. Server logs including IP addresses are held briefly for security and troubleshooting.
  • Google Analytics — only if you have allowed cookies.
  • Microsoft — our business email, if you write to us.

Some of these providers are based in, or transfer data to, the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. Email support@dcdandsons.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Where our content comes from

The tender notices we write about come from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder, which are free public sources. We do not build profiles of subscribers, and we do not decide what to publish based on who is reading.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will say so in an issue rather than quietly amending the page.
